Acne at ANY AGE and the DIY Skin Recipes for it!

By Stages of Beauty on March 22nd, 2012

Hey guys,

We all know it– ACNE. It can strike even after your teens! Here are some quick and easy home-made recipes you can whip up that might save you from the occasional acne flair up!

Yogurt Acne Remedy

Can you believe that this recipe you can either apply this to a pimple or drink it to cleanse your digestive system? Remember if used topically, only use it one pimples (and it WILL tingle a bit) because of the acidity from the garlic.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
1 tsp of baking soda
1 or 2 cloves of garlic crushed to a paste
1 cup water

All you have to do is add the yogurt, baking soda, and garlic and let sit for six hours. Then, add boiling water to mixture. Whisk vigorously. Strain with cheesecloth to remove pieces of garlic. Be sure to Let cool before using. Viola!

Easy Zit Zapper

This is a nighttime cream that will help calm breakouts and clear up pimples by balancing the pH of the skin.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons aloe gel
3 ounces grape seed
1 ounce liquid lanolin
(and if you have it in the house 2 ounces rosewater)

Directions:

Combine aloe with oil and beat together using a whisk. Whisking to work out the arm muscles of course. Then, in a glass bowl over a pan of hot water, melt liquid lanolin into the mixture. Remove from heat and cool. Then if you have rosewater, add it in now. Store in a cream jar and use at night as an ointment for combating blemishes.

At the Oscar’s: Red-carpet glamor knows no age!

By Stages of Beauty on March 2nd, 2012

At this year’s Academy Awards, red-carpet glamor knows no age! Actresses and actors dazzled the red carpet more than ever. This time around it was the women past their 30′s that were SHOW STOPPERS.
Of course, we all know Jennifer Lopez (in her 40s) and Cameron Diaz (late 30s) are both drop dead gorgeous natural beauties. They not only presented together, but both had on racy little numbers in shades of white.

Newcomer, Viola Davis has been truly taking the red carpet by storm! She has reached success in her acting career in her 40s and says she is so grateful to finally make it.
Not only are her dresses and athletic build phenomenal, she carries herself as a true beauty regardless of age. Viola was also applauded for embracing her natural hair.

Who had the most radiant skin at the Oscars? Our vote is for Sandra Bullock and Oprah! Sandra Bullock, who is rocking her late 40s, has seemingly flawless skin and is known for pulling off a very classy yet young looks. She even showed some culture speaking German as she presented on stage. Oprah is typically underrated in the beauty department, but WOW her skin truly has been looking so great into her late 50s! It’s important to see the media shedding some much deserved spotlight on beauty at all ages!

Cheers,
Kristine

Coffee– Not Just for Drinking!

By Stages of Beauty on February 22nd, 2012

Reducing Cellulite with Coffee! Yep it’s true, your favorite morning beverage can actually be used as a powerful beauty remedy! Coffee and its caffeine, when applied topically, has the ability to not only leave you with a glowing complexion, but also help reduce cellulite!

Here is what you need:

1. Freshly Roasted coffee
2. Honey

Here is what you do:

Take your fresh leftover coffee grounds and combine it with honey. This mixture can be then be used as a scrub on both the face and body. Just apply as you would a normal scrub, exfoliate and rinse when complete. This mixture is great an natural– and are things you can find in your very own kitchen!

Coffee grinds and honey are both loaded with tons of benefits: Honey is a natural anti-inflammatory and purifying agent. It both moisturizes and softens the skin, and in this case, it also functions to hold everything together. Coffee, too, does so many great things for the skin. When applied topically, the caffeine and antioxidants work to tighten and energize skin while also promoting circulation. This gives it the ability to smooth out skin and reduce that hated cellulite. It has also been known to reduce varicose veins as the result of its ability to shrink blood vessels.

Enjoy this great DIY recipe and tell us how it goes!

Cheers,
Kristine

The Power of Roses! Here is a breakdown of what and why Roses are a phenomenal ingredient in Beauty products! Just like in our Harmony Line!

Rose water is an amazing skin refresher and can help reduce signs of aging and wrinkles.
Rosebuds are high in vitamin C and astringent tannins.
Rose extract and Rose oil is used in fragrances, cosmetics, and skin conditioners as natural scent.
Rose hips are also used in many food products and are used medicinally to relieve colds.
The striking pigment of red roses makes it a great natural color to skincare and also great for a red lip and cheek stain as well.
